1. The BIDMAS Trap (Arithmetic) #

Precision matters more than speed here. Remember: Indices come before multiplication, and Multiplication happens before that final subtraction.

The Logic: Calculate: 122×(4+1)212 - 2 \times (4 + 1)^2

  • 1.
    Brackets first: (5)2=25(5)^2 = 25
  • 2.
    Multiply next: 2×25=502 \times 25 = 50
  • 3.
    Subtract last: 1250=3812 - 50 = -38
  • Fill in blanks

    2. The Negative Sign Pivot (Algebra) #

Expanding brackets is where most students drop easy marks—usually because they forget that a negative outside the bracket flips the signs inside.

    The Logic: Expand 3(2x+1)2(x4)3(2x + 1) - 2(x - 4)

  • 1.
    First part: 6x+36x + 3
  • 2.
Second part (the pivot): 2x+8-2x + 8 (Watch that +8+8!)
  • 3.
    Result: 4x+114x + 11
  • Single choice

    3. Two-Step Isolation (Equations) #

Your goal is to strip away the numbers surrounding xx using inverse operations. Do it in the reverse order of BIDMAS: deal with the addition/subtraction first.

    The Logic: Solve 3x+5=173x + 5 = 17

  • 1.
    Remove the constant: 3x=123x = 12
  • 2.
    Isolate the variable: x=4x = 4
  • Fill in blanks
