Mastering the 'Big Three': Portuguese Present Tense Drills

Most regular Portuguese verbs belong to three families based on their infinitive endings: -AR, -ER, and -IR. While irregulars exist, mastering these three patterns gives you the confidence to handle about 80% of everyday conversation.

Note that the Eu (I) form is the easiest to remember—it almost always ends in -o, regardless of the verb family.

Pro-tip: In Brazil, we rarely use 'Tu' in formal writing, but you'll hear it in the South and North. For now, focus on 'Você' to sound natural in most settings.
